Activity programme
CONCERT
To mark the presentation of the work, and as a preview of Patrimonio Nacional's 2022 Classical Music Season, a concert entitled Chiaroscuro, el lienzo sonoro. Música en tiempos de Caravaggio [Chiaroscuro, the sonorous canvas. Music in the time of Caravaggio] will take place in the chapel of the Royal Palace of Madrid. The recital, which will be held on 14 February, will be performed by soprano Mariví Blasco accompanied on the theorbo by musician Robert Cases, who specialises in historical string instruments.
SERIES OF LECTURES
In addition, a series of academic lectures will take place during the month of March on the latest developments in research on the Milanese painter and the collecting – both royal and private – of his work in Spain. They will be given by three specialists: Maria Cristina Terzaghi, one of the world’s leading experts on Caravaggio; Carmen García-Frías, curator of the collections of old master paintings at Patrimonio Nacional; and David García Cueto, head of the department of Italian and French painting up to 1800 at the Museo Nacional del Prado.
